Robert Modlinger
Dr. Robert S. Modlinger, 72, of Cranford died July 23, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, he also had resided in Manhattan, Riverdale, Livingston, and Springfield.
Dr. Modlinger was chief of hypertension at the Veterans Administration Hospital in East Orange, assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and chief of endocrinology at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair. He did clinical research and authored several scientific papers and had a private practice in endocrinology in the Caldwell and West Orange areas.
He attended Columbia University and Cornell University Medical College and did his medical residency and fellowship in endocrinology at Mount Sinai Hospital.
He was a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinology.
He was a member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael in Springfield and Congregation Ahavas Sholom in Newark.
He is survived by his wife, April; two sons, Paul of Virginia and Alan of Teaneck; a brother, James of California, and five grandchildren.
Services were held July 24 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael or Congregation Ahavas Sholom.
