Robert Lowenstein
Robert (Bob) L. Lowenstein, 94, of West Orange died April 16, 2018. Born in Union City, he lived in Westfield with his wife Rhoda before relocating to Monroe Township and later West Orange.
Mr. Lowenstein worked in his family business, Ace Scientific, where he eventually became president. Upon retirement, he continued to work for several years at H&R Block as a tax preparer. He graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in chemistry and from Stevens Institute of Technology with a M.S. in chemistry.
He served as a medic in World War II, where he received multiple honorary metals.
He was very active as an officer in Kiwanis, the men’s club at Temple Emanu-El in Westfield, B’nai B’rith, Jewish Family Service, and the Masons. He was an elite member of Mensa.
He is survived by three daughters, Carole, Nancy, and Janet; sons-in-law, Stephen Schneider, Ron Schneier, and Gary Deutschmeister; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 19 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Rutgers University (support.rutgers.edu).
