Riwa Wunder
Riwa Wunder (Sieradzka), 97, of Queens and West Orange died Nov. 23, 2014. A Holocaust survivor who was born in Poland, she lost most of her family during World War II, including her daughter, Chaya. She came to the United States in January 1947.
Mrs. Wunder and her husband Salomon owned, at various times, candy stores, a luncheonette, and finally a toy store on Orchard Street on New York City’s Lower East Side.
She was a member of the sisterhoods of several Queens synagogues, and was honored by Ahavat Torah of Fresh Meadows as 1996 Woman of Achievement for her outstanding service.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by her son, Karl (Sharon); her daughter, Anne (Al) Spring; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 25 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
