Rita K. Bauman
Rita K. Bauman (Kaufman), 92, of Livingston died Aug. 17, 2011. Born and raised in Elizabeth, she lived in West Orange before moving to Livingston in 1975.
Mrs. Bauman was the cofounder of Walter Bauman Jewelers, a NJ chain of jewelry stores.
She graduated from Douglass College, New Brunswick.
She was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women, the Brandeis Book Club, and the League of Women Voters. She volunteered as a docent at the Turtleback Zoo in West Orange.
Predeceased by her husband, Walter, in 2005, she is survived by a son, Edward; two daughters, Margery Galluzzi and Freddie Scelsa; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 22 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
