Richard J. Schlenger, 87, of Palm Beach, Fla., and Livingston died March 24, 2017.
Mr. Schlenger joined his family’s business, R & S Auto Stores. He later purchased Kaltman-Boise and pursued a career in commercial real estate.
He attended Syracuse University.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He served on the board of many local charities and received the Julius Cohn Award from UJA Federation, the predecessor organization to Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, in 1961.
He was a member of Mountain Ridge Country Club, West Caldwell, for over 70 years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Pamela; his daughter, Peggy (Larry); two sons, William and David; two brothers, Bennett and Robert; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held March 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Health System for the Peter Krueger Clinic or Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida.
