Richard Gardner
Richard Gardner, 81, of Montville and Palm Beach, Fla., died Jan. 30, 2011. Born in Newark, he was raised in Nutley and lived in North Caldwell as well as, for a number of years, between Montville and Palm Beach.
Mr. Gardner was the president of Brent Material Company in West Orange for 56 years.
He was a graduate of Nutley High School and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from New York University.
He was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955.
He was a member and past president of Temple Sholom of West Essex, Cedar Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Templeton); two daughters, Linda Vollers and Susan Brunner; his sister, Miriam Stein; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 3 at Temple Sholom with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
