Renee Sachs
Renee L. Sachs, 74, of East Windsor died March 8, 2015. She was born in Paris. During World War II, when her mother was arrested by the Nazis, she became a “hidden child” in St. Pardoux, France.
Mrs. Sachs was a foreign language teacher for most of her life, and throughout her career, held positions at schools including Villa Victoria Academy, The Peddie School, Chapin School, and Mercer County Community College in New Jersey and Brooklyn Academy and New Lincoln School in New York City. She was included in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” three times.
She received a BA from West Chester University and an MA from University of Michigan.
She became an active member of the Hidden Children’s Foundation and made presentations to both children and adults about her experience as a child survivor.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Keith; and her daughter, Anne, and her son, Joshua, both of New York City.
Services were held March 12 at Congregation Beth Chaim, Princeton Junction, with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders, The Hidden Children Foundation/ADL, or National Brain Tumor Society in Boston.
