Remembering Debbie

I want to add words of gratitude to Debbie Friedman z”l from our congregational family. In the mid-1990s, Congregation Agudath Israel was one of 12 congregations selected for Synagogue 2000’s exercise in Synagogue Transformation. We chose the “Healing Track” in which Debbie was a key consultant. Thanks to S2K and Debbie, we intensified the hesed efforts of our Caring Committee, paved the ground for hiring Karen Frank as our congregational nurse (in partnership with the JCC and the Health Care Foundation), and expanded the role of the misheberach prayer for healing at our worship services. Most amazing was Debbie volunteering and leading a monthly healing service for two years at our shul. To have partnered with Debbie and with Susan Werk, our wonderful educational director, in these spiritually moving experiences is a blessing that none of us ever will forget.
