Raymond Chesloff

Raymond Chesloff, 88, of Philadelphia died Jan. 22, 2014. He was born in New York City and resided in West Caldwell for 40 years before retiring to Oceanside, Calif., in 1994. He later returned to Philadelphia, where he resided until his death.

Mr. Chesloff co-owned and operated Chesloff’s Furs, a well-known retail fur and dress salon on Halsey Street in Newark, along with his brothers, Arnold and Ernest, who were his partners, for over 40 years.

He served in World War II with the Naval Air Corps and held the rank of Seaman 1st Class.

With a passion for photography, he belonged to several local camera clubs and won many local and regional awards for his photo prints, which were also publicly exhibited.

Predeceased by his wives, Phyllis in 1971 and Gladyce in 2002, he is survived by two sons, Paul (Leslie) of Atlanta and Eric (Janis) of Wynnewood, Pa.

Services were held Feb. 2 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
