R. Deborah Bard
R. Deborah Bard, 99, of Ewing died Aug. 22, 2012. Born and raised in New York City, she resided in the Trenton area her entire adult life.
Mrs. Bard taught first grade in the Ewing Township Schools for 30 years. During her tenure there, she also served as a reading specialist and demonstration teacher for Trenton State College.
She was a graduate of Hunter College and held two master’s degrees from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State).
Upon her retirement she dedicated herself to volunteer work at Greenwood House, where she ran the gift shop for many years, and Jewish Family Service, where she was involved in the resettlement program.
She was a member of Har Sinai Temple, where she served as vice president, and taught in the religious school. She was a life member of Hadassah and Women for Greenwood House.
Predeceased by her first husband, Robert H. Bloom, and her second husband, Max Bard, she is survived by her children, Sheila and Peter Engelbach and Naomi and Phillip Griffin; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Private services were held with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Har Sinai Temple’s Robert H. Bloom Memorial Fund, Greenwood House, or Community Hospice of Greenwood House.
