Phyllis Violet Kay of Union died Dec. 25, 2010. She was born in Newark.
Phyllis was employed by the Office of Price Controls during World War II. After raising her family, she started a second career at Kings Supermarkets in Caldwell, where she worked as an administrative assistant to the seafood and meat managers for more than 20 years.
Predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Jack, she is survived by three sons, Steven of Middletown, RI, Larry of New York City, and Richard of Plainsboro; a brother, Lloyd Adler of Newton, Mass.; a sister, Arline Gottlieb of Colonia; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 28 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Division Inc., Middlesex Unit, P.O. Box 1918, Morristown, NJ 07962-1918; or the Alzheimer’s Association, Denville.
