Phyllis Maulfair
Phyllis (Chassanoff) Maulfair, 70, of Vero Beach, Fla., died Nov. 28, 2011. Born in Newark, she lived in New Jersey before relocating to North Carolina and Florida.
Mrs. Maulfair spent 25 years in the fashion industry, working with designers such as Bill Blass, Pierre Cardin, and Givenchy. After retirement, she began developing her own art. Her work was exhibited in Vero Beach art shows and she exhibited in and chaired the Art in the Park and Art by the Sea shows of the Vero Beach Art Club for many years. Her work is in many private collections and in the Vero Beach Museum of Art and the John Turchin Gallery of Fine Art in Banner Elk, NC.
After attending Millburn High School, University of Miami, and Rutgers University, she studied commercial art and fashion illustration in New York. She then attended the Heritage School of Fine Arts in South Orange.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard; her son, Mitchell; two brothers, Arnold Chassanoff of Lyme, Conn., and Robert Chassanoff of North Carolina; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 1. Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Hospital Foundation’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program, Orlando, Fla.
