Phyllis Bauer

Phyllis Bauer, 94, of Bowling Green, Ohio, died April 8, 2017. She grew up in Newark and had also lived in Maplewood and West Orange before moving to Bowling Green three months ago.

In addition to providing her husband with secretarial support for his business, Mrs. Bauer worked as a receptionist for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed working as an aide at preschools. 

After her retirement, she did volunteer work for Charity Council of Essex County and Hadassah. At her residence at Jewish Federation Plaza, she sang in the choir and assisted in setting up for Sabbath services and other activities.

Predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Adolph “Artie,” in 2002, and a daughter, Rona Waters, in 1996, she is survived by a daughter, Elayne (Joseph) Jacoby of Bowling Green, a son-in-law, Edward Waters; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 12 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section, Livingston.
