Philip Weiss

Philip “Phil” Weiss, 86, of Marlboro, a native of New York City, died Aug. 23, 2012. He resided in Brooklyn and Valley Stream, NY, before relocating to Marlboro in 1989.

Mr. Weiss was a textile salesman for 40 years, retiring from Dome Textiles in 1990.

He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and a Tau Delta Phi fraternity member.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

He belonged to the Fabric Salesman Guild and Knights of Pythias. He volunteered with the Boys Scouts as a Scout Master, with Jewish Marriage Encounter, and locally with Meals on Wheels, CentraState Hospital, and the PNC Arts Center. He served as a trustee of Marlboro Greens for 20 years, including several terms as community president.

Predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, he is survived by two daughters, Adrienne Weiss-Harrison and Claudia Weiss; a sister, Enid Ganz; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 26 at Temple Shalom, Aberdeen, with arrangements by Freeman Funeral Homes, Manalapan.
