Paul E. Barr

Paul E. Barr of Livingston died Jan. 25, 2011. He was born in Newark.

A financial adviser for 40 years, Mr. Barr began his career with Ira Haupt & Co. and retired from Shearson Lehman. After retiring in 1989, he became an arbitrator for the National Association of Security Dealers. He also lectured on financial subjects on cruise ships for many years.

He was a graduate of South Side High School, Newark, and Rutgers University.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant and was involved with the Anti Aircraft-Coast Artillery.

He was the first senior vice commander of the Elin-Unger Jewish War Veterans, Post #273.

He was a member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth; two daughters, Denise Olewine of Manhattan and Jane Katz of Armonk, NY; and two grandsons.

Services were held with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman, Livingston.
