Obama is bad example
As a liberal Jew and inspired Zionist, I would never consider identifying myself as anything else, especially in light of the hateful rhetoric by Muslims and others (“‘I will register as a Muslim,’” Nov. 24). The fact that this rhetoric is state-directed in many Muslim nations makes it all the more despicable.
Furthermore, the idea that President Obama should be an inspiration to others in race-related matters is laughable (“Trump must follow Obama’s example on race,” Dec. 8). Obama’s former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, drew criticism not for “a series of intemperate statements about…the racist nature of U.S. society” but for demonstrating his hatred of America, white people, and Jews. Surely you are aware of the infamous statement, “God damn America,” and the fact that Obama, sitting in the pews for many years, claimed he was unaware of the sentiments or comments. It is journalistic malpractice to suggest that Trump follow Obama’s example of race relations in light of these very painful incidents.
