Nicky’s heroism
We were pleased and grateful for the news item (Kolbo, May 23) about the schoolchildren in Prague who are petitioning for Nicholas Winton to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts that resulted in the rescues of close to 700 Czech-Jewish children from Czechoslovakia in the late 1930s. His heroic and selfless deeds deserve international recognition that only a Nobel Peace Prize will achieve.
To this end, we are happy to announce that Hadassah Associates of Monroe Township, along with Alisa and Monroe Township chapters of Hadassah, will host a showing of Nicky’s Family, a film about Winton’s accomplishments, on Aug. 25 at the Greenbriar Ballroom. Guests will have an opportunity to sign petitions which will be presented to the Hon. Peter Rafaeli, consul general in Philadelphia for the Czech Republic, who will speak and introduce the film.
NJ Jewish News readers who wish to receive further information about the program or the petitions may contact us at 609-409-1387 or 609-619-3000, respectively.
