NERAVANDA-ASTMAN

Sapna Neravanda, daughter of Muthoo and Dr. Medappa Neravanda of Staten Island, and Joel Kenneth Astman, son of Marlene and Dr. James Astman of Sherman Oaks, Calif., formerly of West Orange, were married on Nov. 6, 2011.

Twin ceremonies were held at the Staten Island home of the bride’s parents; the Coorgie blessings took place first, followed by the Jewish ceremony performed by family friend Rabbi Eli Herscher of Stephen S. Wise Temple in Bel Air, Calif.

Ms. Neravanda received her BSN from Long Island University. She is a neo-natal ICU nurse at Maimonides Medical Center.

Mr. Astman is a Stanford University graduate. A Brooklyn-based DJ and music producer, he is known professionally as J. Period.

A spring 2012 reception is planned, following a December honeymoon to Southern India.

The couple resides in Brooklyn.
