National integrity

I agree we should inform our congressional representatives and Secretary Kerry that we support a two-state solution, as requested by the J Street representative in the article, “The Gatekeepers stirs debate at Montclair shul.” But it must be made clear to them that the resulting settlement must establish two distinct, independent, and viable states.

This article only reports that a political solution would satisfy the national aspirations of the Israelis and the Palestinians, but does not mention that the current Palestinian leadership does not accept the national aspiration of the Jewish community of Israel.

Although past and current Israeli-Palestinian negotiation efforts have failed to reach an equitable settlement, Israel had reached peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan that included the return of territory to these Arab nations while not undermining the national integrity of these three nations involved in these agreements.

Can we expect that the resulting political settlement will not undermine the national integrity of Israel?
