Nathan Rubin

Nathan Rubin, 100, of West Orange died Feb. 20, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Newark in 1925. He resided in Union before moving to West Orange in 1999. 

Mr. Rubin was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1981, and was president of Rubin Meat Products Co. in Newark for many years. 

He was a graduate of Upsala College and Rutgers University School of Law. 

He served as a U.S. Army captain in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II (1942-46) in New Guinea, Biak, Morotai, and the Philippines. He was also a commander of Jewish War Veterans Post 34, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2433 of Union. 

He was a member of the Rutgers University Alumni Association, and served on the board of trustees of B’nai Ahavath Shalom of Union. 

Predeceased by a brother, Alfred, and two sisters, Sarah Sarwin and Iva Abel, he is survived by nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. 

Services were held Feb. 25 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
