Nancy Kanter

Nancy Kanter, 86, of Westfield died June 22, 2013. She lived in Buffalo, NY; Manhattan; and Roselle and spent many years in Maplewood before moving to Westfield five years ago.

Mrs. Kanter worked as a secretary at Samuel Kanter Furs in Manhattan. She also was a music teacher in various NJ elementary schools and a legal secretary.

She received a BA in music education from Kean College.

She was president of National Council of Jewish Women’s Essex County Section. She was a bat mitzva and choir soloist at Temple Israel in South Orange and a choir soloist at several NJ synagogues.

Predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Arthur, she is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Bergovoy of Chicago and Patricia Ross of Detroit; her son, Samuel of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 24.
