Murray Savel
Murray Savel, 86, of Springfield died March 12, 2011. Born in Newark, he was a longtime resident of Maplewood and Springfield.
Mr. Savel was the owner of Savel Wall Coverings in Maplewood.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was president of the JCC MetroWest’s Margulies Senior Center in West Orange, a member of the Springfield Lodge of B’nai B’rith, and a longtime member of Congregation Beth El in South Orange.
Predeceased by his wife Selma, he is survived by his wife, Evelyne Lerner Savel; his son, Stuart of Chester, Vt.; two daughters, Caroline Ehrlich of Colonia and Nancy Savel of Acton, Mass.; four stepchildren; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 14 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Margulies Senior Center.
