Murray Gottlieb
Murray Gottlieb, 91, of Rockville, Md., died Jan. 1, 2013. Born in Poland, he arrived in the United States when he was seven years old, growing up in Brooklyn. He also lived in West Orange and Delray Beach, Fla.
Mr. Gottlieb was president of the Essex Beef Company of Newark.
He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.
He was extremely active in his synagogue, B’nai Shalom of West Orange, serving twice as its president. He was also a volunteer in many other organizations in the MetroWest Jewish community.
Predeceased by his wife, Rose, he is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Rabbi Jonathan) Schnitzer of Rockville and Ilene (Mark) Weisbrot of Naples, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 3 with arrangements by Edward Sagel Funeral Direction, Rockville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Murray and Rose Gottlieb Endowment at B’nai Israel Congregation, 6301 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20852.
