Murray Blum

Murray Gordon Blum of Springfield died Feb. 21, 2013. Born in Newark, he lived in Hillside before moving to Springfield in 1958.

Mr. Blum was the owner of Empire Ticket Service, which was located in Newark for 35 years and then Springfield for 15 years. He retired two years ago.

He was a graduate of West Side High School in Newark.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a seaman first class and received the American Theater, Victory, and Asiatic-Pacific medals.

Predeceased by his wife, Diana (Myers), he is survived by his son, Robert (Eileen) of Union; his daughter, Janice L. Blum-Prefer (Alan Prefer) of Ft. Lee; a sister, Claire Goldberg; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his partner of 30 years, Anita Goldstein, and her extended family.

Services were held Feb. 24 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
