Morton Rachelson
Dr. Morton “Mort” H. Rachelson, 90, of West Caldwell died Dec. 20, 2018. He was born in Brooklyn on Dec. 31, 1927, and later lived in North Caldwell.
Dr. Rachelson opened his own medical practice, Pediatric Associates of West Essex in Caldwell. He practiced for almost 40 years, serving as head of pediatrics at St. Barnabas Hospital and on staff at Columbia University and NJ College of Medicine.
He entered Syracuse University at the age of 16 and graduated from Tulane University Medical School at 23.
He was a captain in the Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Natalie “Nikki” (Gutterman), whom he married in 1952; two daughters, Margie (Larry) Samuels of West Caldwell and Barbara Rachelson (Don Loeb) of Burlington, Vt.; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
