Montclair author to speak on “Hammerin’ Hank” Greenberg

Award-winning journalist and blogger Ron Kaplan will speak about “Hank Greenberg in 1938: Hatred and Home Runs in the Shadow of War,” his newly published book about the legendary baseball player, at Bnai Keshet’s Kaplan Minyan on Saturday, May 20. The Kaplan Minyan, which meets in the Red Gables historic house across the parking lot from the Montclair synagogue’s main building, begins at 10:30 a.m.

Kaplan, NJJN’s former sports and features editor and a longtime Bnai Keshet member, writes about baseball literature and pop culture at “Ron Kaplan’s Baseball Bookshelf.” He is the author of three books, including “501 Baseball Books Fans Must Read Before They Die.” At NJJN he created Kaplan’s Korner on Jews and Sports, which was named 2014 blog of the year by the New Jersey Press Association.
