Minnie Neuwirth

Minnie Neuwirth (Ptaszek), 83, of River Vale died Jan. 21, 2011. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Baldwin, NY, and Bloomfield before moving to River Vale three years ago.

Mrs. Neuwirth was an elementary teacher for the New York City Board of Education for 20 years before retiring 20 years ago.

She graduated from Brooklyn College, where she received a degree in education.

She was a life member of Hadassah and a member of the South Baldwin Jewish Center and its sisterhood, Congregation Shomrei Emunah of Montclair, and The Israel Congregation of Manchester, Vt.

She predeceased her husband, David, by five days. She is survived by two daughters, Sherri Neuwirth of Montclair and Jackie Borella of Londonderry, Vt.; a sister, Arlene Halfon of Washington, DC; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 24 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton. Memorial contributions may be made to The Jewish Home Foundation, and directed to Jewish Home Assisted Living, 685 Westwood Ave., River Vale, NJ 07675.
