Milton J. Gale
Milton J. Gale, 93, of Middletown died July 11, 2011. He lived in Keyport until 1964 and then in Little Silver for 32 years, before moving to Middletown’s Shadow Lake Village, where he resided for the past 15 years.
Mr. Gale ran Gale’s Hardware and Gale’s Industrial Supply in Keyport for more than 40 years.
He was a graduate of Rutgers University.
He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II.
He was president of United Hebrew Congregation, Keyport. He served as president of the Keyport Chamber of Commerce and Keyport Kiwanis and as a member of the town’s planning board. He also helped create the Keyport Legion Apartments for seniors and was active with the Brookdale College Foundation. In 1982, he was honored as Keyport Person of the Year.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Edith Allen Gale; a son, Jeffrey of Hazlet; a daughter, Eileen Gale Kugler of Springfield, Va.; and five grandchildren.
Services were held July 13 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean.
