Michael Cohen

Michael Cohen, 93, of Lakewood died July 25, 2013. He moved from Staten Island to Lakewood in 1997.

Mr. Cohen was a partner in Richmond Cleaning Service and Richmond Supply Company, Staten Island. He retired in 1990.

A World War II veteran, he was a skilled airplane and engine mechanic. The Army awarded him many medals and the rank of sergeant when he was discharged on Sept. 8, 1945.

After the war, he became active in the Knights of Pythias, the Jewish War Veterans, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Masons. He received an award from the Staten Island Pythian Lodge in honor of his devotion and hard work for others.

He was a member of Temple Beth Or, Brick, and Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Staten Island, where he served as men’s club treasurer for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rica (Claire); a sister, Irene Stein; and many nieces and nephews.
