The in-house Marketing & Communications Department of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ in Whippany garnered seven awards — including four first-place honors — at the New Jersey Advertising Club’s 43rd annual Jersey Awards Dinner, held June 2 at the Chart House in Weehawken.

The competition includes top professionals in the advertising and marketing industry throughout New Jersey.

The awards, which recognize creativity, excellence, and ingenuity in the conception and execution of advertising and marketing, cited UJC chief marketing officer Shelley Labiner of Montclair, art director Melissa Simon of Short Hills, graphic designer Mark Berkley of Maplewood, and account managers Robert Bogart of Rockaway and Lauren Saltus of Randolph.

The awards won by the department are: Newspaper Campaign — “Where do you turn?” first place; Logo and/or Trademark — “MetroPass,” first place; Direct Mail Package — “A Place at the Table,” first place; Pole/Banner — “Peoplehood Project,” first place; Annual Report, color — “2010 Report to the Community,” third place; Newspaper/Full Color — “Last Chance to Live Generously,” third place; and E-mail Blast — “A Night at the Museum,” third place.

“We take great pride in this award-winning team that produces outstanding work year in and year out,” said UJC MetroWest executive vice president Max Kleinman. “Their creativity and passion are an integral part of our efforts and inspire everyone at UJC.”
