Melvyn Schwartzbad, 76, of Springfield died Dec. 28, 2011. Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington, in North Miami Beach, Fla., for 15 years, and in Springfield for 25 years.
Mr. Schwartzbad was a custodian for Woodbridge Mall, retiring 10 years ago. He was also a custodian for NY Sports in Springfield and a scrap metal dealer for M & E Scrap Metal in North Miami Beach.
He was a Marine Corps sergeant during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Avnet); two sons, Edward and Steven; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
