Congratulations to the Golda Och Academy (“School’s new name honors a founder’s ‘inspiring’ vision, Dec. 9).

I remember when Solomon Schechter Day School was first started. It began in 1965 at the Hebrew school of Congregation Beth Shalom (now Congregation B’nai Ahavath Shalom) on Vauxhall Road in Union and was founded by the late Rabbi Elvin I. Kose together with the late Horace Bier.
