Max Berlin, 98, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Livingston, died July 14, 2018. He was born in Newark.
A certified public accountant, Mr. Berlin had his own practice and worked to the age of 89.
He was a graduate of Rutgers University.
He was a World War II veteran.
As a long-term congregant, he served as treasurer at Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston. He also served as Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias.
Predeceased by a daughter, Helen Barbara Kunz, he is survived by his wife of 71 years, Estelle (Weiner); a daughter, Susan Berlin (Stanley Slaw) of Nanuet, N.Y., his son, Bruce (Andrea Treese Berlin) of Forest Hill, Md.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 17 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
