Mary Belsky
Mary Benzilio Belsky, 100, of Kendall Park died Feb. 28, 2018. She was born in New Brunswick, where her family had settled after emigrating from Salonica (Thessaloniki), Greece. Her family then moved to Highland Park, where they lived for many years before moving back to New Brunswick. She also had lived in Sunrise, Fla.
Mrs. Belsky was involved in a multitude of organizations including Hadassah, where she was a life member, and was sisterhood president of Etz Ahaim for many years.
Her late father, Eli, was a founding member and first president of Congregation Etz Ahaim in Highland Park. She spoke Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) fluently.
Predeceased by her husband, Irving, and a son-in-law, Richard Cafferty, she is survived by four daughters, Beverly (Michael) Scher; Donna Cafferty; Brenda (Roy) Tanzman; and Sheree (Bob) Berk; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 2 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey or American Cancer Society.
