Martin Karp

Martin Karp, 91, of Springfield died June 3, 2012.

Mr. Karp was a certified public accountant in private practice in Newark and later Elizabeth for over 60 years.

He earned a BA in accounting and an MBA, both from New York University.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946 and saw action in India with U.S. Army logistics and intelligence units. Upon completion of his active service he transferred to the Army Reserves and finally retired from military service in 1981 with the rank of colonel.

He was active in the Springfield Garden Club and the Retired Officers Association.

Predeceased by his son, Alan, he is survived by his wife, Harriett (Kalison); his daughter, Susan Karp of Bedminster; a daughter-in-law, Dorie Karp; a sister, Rona Snyder of Egg Harbor Township; and three grandchildren.

Services were held June 5 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
