Martin Essner of Clark died June 15, 2016. He was a resident of Clark for over 50 years.
Mr. Essner was a member of Congregation Anshe Chesed, Linden, where he served multiple terms on the board of directors.
He served in the U.S. Army, receiving the World War II Victory Medal and seeing service in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1947.
He was a supporter of many Israel-related charities.
He is survived by his daughter, Lois (David) Mandell; a brother, Norman Essner of Connecticut; and four grandchildren.
Services were held June 17 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish National Fund.
