Martin Adler
Martin Adler, 89, of Rumson died July 2, 2012. He was born in Brooklyn to European immigrant parents.
Mr. Adler rose through the ranks of the Kislak Company, the New Jersey area’s largest real estate brokerage firm for apartment buildings and multifamily complexes. Eventually, he became both the president of Kislak and founding president of the NJ Apartment Association.
He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in World War II.
After World War II, Marty ran numerous hotels and restaurants, culminating in the Grand Hotel of Hoboken when it was the scene of the 1954 Academy Award winning film On the Waterfront.
He was active in many philanthropies and a member of Congregation B’nai Israel of Rumson.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Woolf); his son, Spencer; his daughter, Laura; and his caregiver, Manana.
Services were held July 3 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rumson First Aid and Police departments.
