Mark Chasin, 73, of Monroe Township, formerly of Manalapan, died Jan. 22, 2016. He grew up in Merrick, NY.
Dr. Chasin dedicated his life to researching and developing new medicines, treatments, and drug delivery methods, particularly in the area of pain management. A scientist, he held hundreds of patents, including for pain medications used by millions, and a wafer-like cancer regrowth inhibitor for the brain used worldwide.
He received his BS from Cornell University and his PhD from Michigan State University.
Predeceased by his wife Rena in 2003, he is survived by his wife, Reva Stern-Chasin; two sons, Jeff (Lisa) and Larry (Andrea); his daughter, Marni (Lee) Garfinkle; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 25 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
