Marilyn Shteir
Marilyn Shteir (Baron), 99, of Maplewood died Nov. 25, 2015. Born in Newark, she lived in West Orange for 50 years before moving to Winchester Gardens in Maplewood in 2002.
Mrs. Shteir attended Central High School in Newark.
She was a member of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills. Active in volunteer work, she did English-language tutoring for the Jewish Family Service of MetroWest. She was a life member of the Women’s Association of Brandeis University and board member and life member of National Council of Jewish Women.
Predeceased by her husband, Jacob, and her son, Joel Martin Shteir, she is survived by her daughter, Ann (Rusty) Shteir (Grif Cunningham) of Toronto; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
A memorial celebration was held at Winchester Gardens on Dec. 7. Memorial contributions may be made to the Winchester Gardens Scholarship Fund, 333 Elmwood Ave., Maplewood; Senior Transportation Fund of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills; or Barnabas Health Hospice, West Orange.
