Marilyn Laster

Marilyn Ruth Laster (Perlov), 90, of Princeton Junction died April 12, 2015. Born in Newark, she also had lived in Irvington, Newark, Maplewood, Union, Springfield, Cranford, and Plainsboro. 

Mrs. Laster was a legal secretary in her younger years. She was one of the first Weight Watcher lecturers in Essex and Union counties in the 1960s and 1970s. She was the office manager for a small oil company in the 1960s and later was the office manager for a Millburn doctor for 14 years until 1997. 

She graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, in January 1942 and was active in planning reunions past her class’s 50th year. 

She was active in the Newark YM-YWHA at its original location on High Street. She was active in Jewish Women International and the Hazak group at Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael in Springfield. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Pythias.

Predeceased by her husband, Herbert, in 1994, she is survived by her daughter, Dale (Lawrence) Lessne of Princeton Junction, and two grandchildren.

Services were held April 15 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing.
