Marilyn Houpt

Marilyn Houpt, 88, of Keansburg died April 21, 2016. Born in Englewood, she lived there during all but the last few years of her life. 

Ms. Houpt worked as a secretary in several import-export firms in New York City, where she translated and handled correspondence in Spanish and English.

She graduated from New Jersey College for Women (Douglass College) with a BA in Modern Languages.

Fascinated by foreign cultures, she traveled the world on regular tours with the New Jersey College of Women alumni association. After she retired, she helped Spanish-speaking immigrants learn English as a volunteer at the Tenafly Senior Center. She also gave to many charities. 

She was a lifelong member of Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood.

She is survived by her sister, Dolores Heinze of Aberdeen, and three nephews, Andrew, Peter, and Eric Heinze.

Services were held April 25 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, New York.
