Margaret Matilda Barnes
Margaret Matilda Barnes, 89, of Springfield died Oct. 9, 2014. Born in Duisburg, Germany, she first settled in New York City after coming to the United States. She later lived in Miami, Connecticut, and Queens before moving to Springfield in 1964.
Mrs. Barnes and her husband, Lee, opened a business together, Barnes Chevrolet in Summit. She worked for over 25 years there as the bookkeeper.
She attended University of Miami.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by her son, Robert (Sadha) of Springfield; her daughter, Linda Engstrom of Jacksonville, Fla.; her son, David Barnes of South Jersey; a brother, Horst Schulte of Germany; a sister, Helga Laks of Miami; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 12 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
