Marcia Ackerman

Marcia Ackerman, 86, of Monroe Township died Feb. 3, 2012. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she moved to the Robbinsville/Hightstown area after marrying in 1959.

Mrs. Ackerman was a public school teacher in New York City for 38 years.

She graduated from Brooklyn College, where she received her BA, MA, and doctoral equivalent.

Active in her community, she was the first full female member of her local Lions chapter as well as past president. She was also a past president and member of the Robbinsville Senior Group.

She and her husband Leo were also active in Democratic politics.

Predeceased by her husband of 39 years in 1998, she is survived by her brother, Donald Schumsky of Cincinnati; two nieces, Shari of Santa Fe, NM, and Jodi of San Leandro, Calif.; and her nephew, Saul of Oakland, Calif.

Services were held Feb. 5 with arrangements by Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. Memorial contributions may be made to Lions Club International and the Robbinsville Senior Group, 1117 Rt. 130, Trenton, NJ 08691.
