M. Murray Mantell

M. Murray Mantell, 91, of Union died Feb. 8, 2013. Born in Newark, Mr. Mantell had lived in Union since 1957.

Mr. Mantell was the owner/operator of Regent Home Furnishings, Sales and Financing, Union.

He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II with tours at Anzio in Italy, and North Africa. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster.

He was a member of Temple Sha’arey Shalom, Springfield, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 40, Union, and a member of the Twin Brooks Country Club, Watchung.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (nee Pierce); his son, Bruce and his wife, Ellyn of Watchung; his daughter, Mindy Mantell Karden of Basking Ridge; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 11, 2013 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater NJ Chapter, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
