Lynn Schneider

Lynn Schneider, 62, of Millbrook, NY, died Dec. 12, 2012. She lived in Millbrook since 1989.

Ms. Schneider practiced as a Jungian psychotherapist for over 30 years, both in Millbrook and the Upper West Side of Manhattan. In the 1990s, she gave lectures on the myth of Prometheus and other topics at Jung on the Hudson, the New School, and the New York Open Center.

She was also an artist. In the 1970s, she had a number of performance art shows in Manhattan and was active in the New York City poetry scene. She was also working on a memoir about her life with her daughter, who has cerebral palsy, and her journey with cancer.

She earned a BA from Goddard College in 1974 and an MSW from Rutgers University in 1975.

She was affiliated with Romemu, a Jewish Renewal congregation in Manhattan, and studied kabala with Rabbi David Ingber.

Predeceased by her husband, James Roarabaugh, in 2001, she is survived by her daughter, Kim of Port Ewen, NY; her mother, Shirlee Schneider of Union; her husband’s three children, Rebecca, Jeremy, and Jesse; and a sister, Cat Greenstreet.

Services were held Dec. 14 with arrangements by the McHoul Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Romemu, Gilda’s Club New York, or Hospice of Duchess and Ulster Counties.
