Louis Goodwin

Louis Goodwin, 89, of Monroe Township died Jan. 30, 2011. Born in Jersey City, he resided there before moving to Monroe 21 years ago.

Prior to retiring in 1986, Mr. Goodwin, a licensed professional engineer, was employed as an aerospace mechanical engineer for Honeywell Corp. in Teterboro.

He was a 1940 graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, earning a degree in mechanical engineering.

He was a former member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, an active member of the Astronomy Club in Concordia, and a ham radio operator.

He was a former member of Temple Beth-El in Jersey City.

A World War II 8th Air Force veteran, he served as first lieutenant in England from 1942 to 1945.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Lieberman Goodwin; a son, Robert of Highland Park; a daughter, Barbara Goodwin of East Brunswick; a sister, Shirley Steiner of Livingston; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 1 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Challah Fund at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.
