Lloyd Adler
Lloyd M. Adler, 96, of Newton, Mass., died March 14, 2018. Born in Newark, he lived in Maplewood and Millburn before moving to Newton 20 years ago.
Mr. Adler worked for the Newark Board of Education for more than 50 years, first as a social studies teacher and guidance counselor at Clinton Place Junior High School and later as a guidance counselor at Central High School.
He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Montclair State Teachers College.
He was a World War II Army veteran who served in England and France.
He was a member of Young Israel, Newark, and Congregation Beth El, South Orange.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; two daughters, Joan (David Dietrich) of Ithaca, NY, and Melanie (Andrew Cohen) of Newton; his son, Sam of Brooklyn; a sister, Arline Gottlieb of Edison; and three grandchildren.
Services were held March 18 with arrangements by Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, Brookline, Mass.
