Lidiya Braurman (Sorkin), 86, of Flanders died Aug. 1, 2014. Born in Zaporojie, Ukraine, she lived in Azerbaijan, Elizabeth, and Hillside before moving to Flanders in 2001.
Before immigrating to the United States and becoming a U.S. citizen, she earned a master’s degree in economics from Azerbaijan State University.
She was a member of Chabad of Northwest New Jersey and a former member of Bris Avrohom of Hillside.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Braurman; her daughter, Liliya (Boris) Colotov of Ashkelon, Israel; her son, Alexander (Olga) of Mendham; two sisters, Sarra Sorkina and Bella Sorkina; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 4 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
