THE HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION of New Jersey honored staff members of six community agencies associated with Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ with its Lester Z. Lieberman Awards for Humanism in Healthcare for the “extraordinary compassion, empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity with which they treat their patients and clients.”

Over 225 agency and hospital CEOs, nursing and dental school deans, direct care providers, and other guests gathered July 16 at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston for the annual awards event.

The following award recipients were nominated by their peers: Chile Amaefule, dietary aide in the sub-acute care division of the Daughters of Israel skilled nursing senior facility in West Orange; Patricia Ruggierio, LCSN, residential and community-based support supervisor at JESPY House, the residential and service center for adults with learning and developmental disabilities, in South Orange; Mairead Shannon Bevilaque, registered nurse at Jewish Family Service of Central NJ, Elizabeth; Alyson Kaplan, MSW, leader of the Caregivers’ Consultation Project at Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ in Florham Park; Anne Gelman, facilitator/literacy instructor at Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled in West Orange; and Niva Santiague, program aide at Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest, East Orange.
