Lester Gale
Lester L. Gale of Union died May 6, 2014. Born in Staten Island, he resided in Union for the past 60 years.
Mr. Gale was a retired business owner, real estate investor, and salesman.
He served his country during World War II, receiving his Purple Heart as a result of sustaining a serious injury in Brest, France. He returned to the United States in 1946 aboard the Queen Mary, which then was used as a floating hospital.
He was a member of Temple Beth Shalom, where he started a Yiddish club. He was also a Master Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta; three sons, Michael (Sherry), Richard (Barbara), and Jimmy (Tracey); a brother, Jerry; and five grandchildren.
Services were held May 8 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
